Thanks for taking the time to read about me =) I am Jeannie Sattler. A 41-year old mother of 2 whom, along with my wonderful husband, is trying to make it in this crappy economy. I have been politically correct most of my life and I think it’s now time to just say it like it is.
My kids are heading into 11th & 12th grade so the last thing they want is to hang out with me. My husband would LOVE to spend more time with me but picked up some work in another state. So, I am basically living my life as a motherless widow {{{chuckle-chuckle, sniff-sniff}}}. Actually, the amount of time to myself has opened the door to allow me more time towards the profession I love and that is, believe it or not, real estate.
I chose to jump into real estate after we sold our wonderful home in California. We had a fabulous piece of rare property that we knew would sell. Our agent (and I don’t even care if he reads this) tried to list it 35% less than I insisted. We ended up getting 85% of that. He threw his sign in our front yard and took off for a vacation without telling us. Within 12 hours we had an offer from one of his buddies. About 12 hours later, just before accepting the offer his buddy made, I got a call from another real estate agent that was wondering if I had received her offer she sent to our agent the previous day ~ which I hadn’t. Hmmmm….. Her client ended up with our property.
Needless to say, I thought the agent was shady. In the years prior to selling that house, we had two other real estate transactions with him and this third one was not the charm. We never even got a Thank You card from the creep.
Anyway, I decided when I moved to Montana I would become active in the real estate world and make a difference. The only difference I have made is emptying out my bank account, as the timing could not have been worse. On the flip side, I have taken many educational courses and have had great success with the many clients I have represented. I have gained respect from other agents and absolutely do love my profession.
My biggest beef with this industry is the lack of knowledge buyers & sellers have about agents. I have seen complete strangers in our area, walk in a real estate office and pick the agent on floor (who could be brand spankin’ new to the biz) to represent them in a multi-million dollar transaction. Seriously??? That is just one of many examples I could share.
So, my goal for my blogs is to educate you and anyone you know buying or selling real estate. In no way do I want to offend anyone although some may take offense. Whether you are here in Northwest Montana or in another country, I hope you gain just a little perspective of the inside world of a profession that doesn’t get its due respect.
Thanks again for taking the time to check out my blog. I love comments – both positive & negative – and will do my best to respond when appropriate.
Take care!
Oh…and if you know anyone buying or selling real estate in Montana have them e-mail me at email@TheWhitefishAgent.com. Thank you!
